Beyond the 50th Parallel

This was a real adventure!  I had been to Yellowstone National Park in 1998 after the disastrous winter of mud and ice in upstate New York that year.  I missed sledding in 1999 due to work commitments.  By 2000 I was ready for something new and exciting.  I thought that Canada might be the best place to go for guaranteed snow, but I  couldn't decide where in Canada might be the best.  I am not a francophone so I didn't want to go to Quebec.  I found Ed Burke and Grand Hermine Adventures on the internet.  Located in Labrador West approximately a 1200 mile drive from New York City, The towns of Labrador City and Wabush offer some of the least crowded trails you will ever find.  I mean you might go all day and see only one or two other sledders.  Absolutely gorgeous scenery and wildlife.  Plenty of lake riding available.  Click on the links below to see some of the sights that I was able to capture on this Northern Odyssey.
