A Northern Town

You are listening to "Bound Down for Newfoundland" Traditional Canadian Folk Song

Wabush is the home of Grande Hermine Adventures and Snowmobile Tours. If you are thinking of going on a wilderness expedition in Labrador West, I urge you to contact Ed Burke. He is a great guide and outfitter and can arrange for a beautiful sightseeing tour or Caribou hunting trip. Grande Hermine operates two great camps. One at Wabush Lake, a few miles outside of town and another about 70 miles north of Wabush at beautiful Esker, overlooking Menihek Lake. The scenery in Esker is just spectacular. If you go in the winter, you are bound to see the Northern Lights as well. Check out Grande Hermine Adventures. The local snowmobile club operates a fantastic trail system of approximately 400 kilometers. Trails are nicely groomed and very well marked. You can get more information here about the White Wolf Snowmobile Club.

Wabush is a great town, just adjacent to Labrador City which is somewhat larger.  Between the two places, there is just about everything one could need.  Banks, shopping and even a McDonald's.  Wabush is home to Wabush Mines.  Lab City hosts Iron Ore of Canada.
